The Art of the Elements
"In curating the exhibition, our guideline was to commission and borrow artworks that were materially based on one of the chemical elements and reference the cultural history of that elements." The Periodic Tales, The Art of Elements. Introduction by Penelope Sexton, Curator.

"Born in Illinois, USA and now lives and works in London. As a sculptor he works mainly in glass and has been described as "a master of form and light". His work is both monumental with brutal physicality in using stacked and fractured glass, alongside the reflective qualities of glass. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, and has produced significant commissioned work for the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff." Whilst exploring the space within Compton Verney, I shared a similar pulling in sensation towards Blue Moon, Danny Lane, that I had done when I first visited County Hall. The piece was in the corner of the space and well light. Within the dimly light space of gallery, this bright blue sculpture stood out the strongest. I spent a lot of time with the piece, interacting with the lighting that reflected off it's smooth surface.
It reminded me about the first time I explored the space at County Hall, how the circular shape had pulled me towards it. However, with Blue Moon I wasn't able to sit within the space due to its materials, I was restricted to it's outer space. Still, I spent a long time exploring the piece itself, getting down low with it.
