county hall exhibition
17.03.2016 - 06.04.2016
For the exhibition we as a group decided that we would all display together on the upper level within the County Hall, surrounding the conference room. The space was a circular space which went around in a loop. This was visitors of the exhibition could walk around the space and leave in the space they entered.
Each piece of work was evenly spread throughout the space, letting each artist have their own space within the space to display their work. Upon entering the exhibition space we had all made maps and leaflets which let the visitors see what the work was about and who it was made by. We felt this gave each piece of work a background and allowed the viewer to see in the mindset of the artist.
Also displayed with the maps and leaflets were postcards that were specially made for each artist. All the postcards had an image of a chosen piece of work by the artist, which either featured within the gallery or a different piece of work, and had their name and contact information on the back. We decided to have it this way due to having information within the leaflet, we didn't want to give the viewers too much reading whilst within the exhibition.
The visitors could move around the space as much as they pleased as it was such an open space. It didn't feel they had to wait around to see the next piece. The space flowed greatly through the space.
It was great to see how each artist had reacted to the space and created work in reflection to the County Hall. Theres was a mixture between paintings, to sculpture, to installation. Each artist had taken different reactions from the space.
